Entuziastii are one of the first Romanian twist rock bands. In lack of video materials or credible written sources, the five “enthousiasts” could only be known (after 40 years!) through the audition of the two vinyl singles and the information printed on the covers. Details are however scarce and this forces us to draw some speculations impossible to avoid. First of all, this seems, chronologically, their first mini-album. We can state that based on the evidence provided by comparing the index number used for the vinyl pressing (with other albums whose release date has been identified). However, the cover provides us with the vocals’ name only: Radu Tanase, while the rest of the crew is described as “The guitar band Entuziastii”.
The “supposed” second single mentions fortunatelly the other members as well. One performs (solo) guitar , the others play keyboards, bass and drums. A line-up change is, of course, possible, but in order to be sure we have to compare the images on the covers (!).
“Dynamite” (1) is a twist song, surprisingly similar to those from the world of good music. It would be interesting to know whether the band belonged to the international time frame as far as the selection of songs goes (or if there was any delay). The songs belong to the end of 50’s and early 60’s.
“A girl like you” (2) represents a slow twist proposal. All songs played by Entuziastii are in excellent English and the result is nothing less than the Western outputs of the 60’s.
“God a funny feeling” (3) is approached in “rock” manner, with a strong 50’s atmosphere. A floating guitar solo has it’s own presence in the song.
“She is so sweet” (4) is the peak of the single. Voice and guitar communicate sucessfully in a dialogue, while the chorus backups the melody with a rhythmic similar to Kinks.
Entuziastii are a band worth to be mentioned and remembered. Back in the 60’s they must have seriously „rocked” and their music could have been a good ambassador of the Romanian rock music. The producers of the vinyl (communists) considered probably this aspect, because one of the few things mentioned on the cover is the commercial text „Made in Rumania” (it is not our mistake, but the error or the option of those responsible for the release of this material).
